Baccarat Playing Tips

Baccarat is a simple game to enjoy even if you are a beginner. There actually aren’t any rules that you have to learn, because there are no real player options to be made.. Playing baccarat online enables you to get the hang of the game playing low or no (free) limits..

There aren’ t any actual decisions to be made through a hand other then someplace to lay a wager beforehand.  Further cards are given out as per a set of predefined rules, so there’s no decisions to make with the exception of who to bet on.

The dealer and player each receive 2  cards at the start. Before the hands are dealt, one for the player and one for the dealer you can bet on one or the other, or a tie.. The idea is for the winning hand to come as close to a tally of 9 as possible. Jacks, queens and kings are counted as zero (or ten if you would prefer, the outcome is the same). An ace counts as 1 while cards 2 throughout 9 are counted at face value. Players hands can not “bust” in baccarat like in blackjack. That is since 10 is removed from the total when it goes past 9.  To illustrate, if a 6 and 5 are dealt to a hand, the total is 11 – from which 10 is subtracted for a hand total of 1.

Winning bets placed on either the players hand or banker hand pay even money, with a small vig (typically 5%) collected on banker bets.  Tie bets pay 8 to 1, and are not a good wager from a strategic standpoint.

After the first two cards, further cards are drawn as needed. Whenever a hand total is 9 or 8 after the opening deal, it is a “natural” – which wins with no more cards being given out – except if each hand is a “natural”, in which case it’s a tie. If no hand is a natural, extra cards are given out to establish the winning hand based on set rules.

As a strategy it would be advantageous to come up with some kind of card counting technique if you can. If not, just enjoy this game of chance.
